Proof, Not Promises

CAFCO 300 spray-applied fireproofing on structural steel - El Segundo CA

Defense Manufacturing Facility — El Segundo, CA

CAFCO 300 spray-applied fireproofing for a tenant improvement at an aerospace/defense manufacturing facility. Working on an active, fast-moving site, A1 sanded existing semi-gloss painted steel to achieve proper adhesion, applied approved bonding agent, then sprayed the designated structural members across two buildings — with intumescent application at select conditions, coordinated around other trades, cleaned up daily.

Why it matters to a GC: fireproofing over previously painted steel is where adhesion failures happen. The prep sequence — sand, bond, spray — is the difference between passing inspection and doing it twice.

Luxury Restaurant Build-Out — Beverly Hills, CA

Fireproofing at luxury restaurant build-out - Beverly Hills CA

Spray-applied fireproofing for a high-end hospitality project in the heart of Beverly Hills — an occupied-district renovation where protection is half the job. Existing conditions, tight coordination with MEP trades overhead, full masking and containment of every work area, and a dust-controlled site per the GC’s standards. Fireproofing applied to designated structural members per the IFC set, spec section 07 81 00, sequenced around a fast-moving finish schedule.

On a luxury build, the fireproofer who masks properly, contains overspray, and cleans daily is the one who doesn’t cost you a finishes budget. That discipline is our default.

What do protective coatings help protect against?
Protective coating systems can help reduce corrosion, oxidation, moisture intrusion, environmental wear, and surface deterioration on exposed steel and commercial surfaces.
Where are protective coatings commonly used?

Protective coatings are commonly used on structural steel, exposed commercial surfaces, industrial environments, parking structures, exterior steel components, and moisture-prone areas.

Why is surface preparation important before coating application?
Proper surface preparation helps support coating adhesion, coverage consistency, and long-term performance. Environmental conditions and coating compatibility also play an important role.
Can protective coatings help reduce long-term maintenance?

Protective coating applications can help reduce environmental wear and surface deterioration, which may help lower maintenance needs and improve long-term durability.

What types of projects use protective coatings?
Protective coatings are used across commercial, industrial, hospitality, warehouse, infrastructure, and specialty construction projects throughout California.
